On Saturday July 4, two local artists toughed out the heat, and the competition on the patio of the St. Germain Café Gallery during their first ever
Art Brawl. Two amazing acrylic on canvas works resulted from the event - both currently on display at the Café (449 Main St. Penticton). Over the course of the next week, folks may stop in to vote for their favourite and help to choose the winner. Bids are also being accepted in a silent auction format to purchase the amazing works, with partial proceeds going to support the Peach City Radio
Raise the Radio campaign. Voting and auction bids will be accepted until the winners are announced on
Saturday July 11, 2015.
The fun competition pitted Tara Kelly against Jenny Long. Each artist had one hour to create a piece of art on a blank canvas. Artists were able to use their own tools and paints, and no theme was in place to restrict the works in any way. Both Tara and Jenny have competed in the past in Art Battles locally, in which the competition is much more structured, allowing artists only 20 minutes to work, and restricting the supplies able to be used.
Both artists completed their works with time to spare, noting that heat was a factor in helping the paint to dry much faster than in studio.
Peach City Radio would like to thank Christopher Millin of St. Germain Café Gallery, as well as Tara Kelly and Jenny Long for making Peach City Radio a part of this event!
