Welcome to the Programming Department resources page for CFUZ! Our aim is to have this page
be your go-to for all things related to programming at CFUZ. If you have any questions, or
need to look something up, you might consider coming to this page first. If your curiosity
can't be satisfied here, then please send an email to our Program Director.
Note that this page is continually being updated with new information and documents
for your benefit. If you notice that something is missing, please contact our
Program Director with your suggestion.
At CFUZ, we welcome all program proposals from anyone wishing to converse with our community
on the airwaves. You can fill out our online Program Application form here.
Once you have submitted your proposal, our committee will review and contact you as soon as we
are able. Note that our committee meets monthly, and we are all volunteers, so please don't be
discouraged if you don't hear from us immediately!
We'll contact you as soon as we have reviewed your application, and then work with you to figure
out where your program will fit in our schedule, and provide training for all the aspects of
being a programmer at CFUZ.
All that we ask of our programmers is the following:
You maintain an up-to-date membership with our society
You have participated in the following CFUZ sessions:
Radio 101 (Initial volunteer orientation - check our website for dates)
Radio 201 - The CRTC & You
Radio 202 - CFUZ Studio Orientation
You have signed our Volunteer Code of Conduct (see document in table below)
Participation in program peer reviews from time to time
You volunteer some additional time to CFUZ (ask us how!).
We also encourage you to have taken a look at the documents you'll find lower down on this page,
including the Programming Policy and the Programmer Handbook - handy documents! Our programmers don't
need to know them verbatim, but you should be able to know where to look up any information that you
might need. And... ignorance of our policies is not an excuse for not toeing the line!

The following table includes the 3 main reference documents outlining CFUZ programming policy, our
handbook and our code of conduct. We recommend that all programmers, hosts and DJs read each of these at

Description: This document is a handbook for all Peach City Radio Programmers (Hosts, DJs and Producers). It forms the current basis for PCR's Radio 101 session, and gives a basic overview of the relationsihp between community radio stations in Canada, and the CRTC. This document is required reading for all current and future programmers/producers at Peach City Radio.
Keep checking here for a seminar list offered to volunteers by the Programming Department. Seminars
occur as frequently as our volunteer leaders are able to offer them, and we appreciate your patience!
We try to do our best to schedule them often, and at varying times so that as many as possible can
attend. Be sure to keep up with our E-cast email list, or our social media or webpage for information
about when these sessions take place.
Please note that for all seminars, attendees are required to be members of the Peach City Community
Radio Society in order to attend.
Radio 200: All Programmer Meeting
Membership NOT Required
This session happens a bit more
infrequently than the regular training sessions, and is meant to be a chance for all those making
programs to gather and discuss issues, policies, procedures with one another and the programming
committee.
Radio 201: The CRTC & You
Mandatory for Programmers, Hosts & DJs
Membership Required
This session deals with all of the conditions of our broadcast license imposed on CFUZ by the CRTC. Don't
know what the CRTC is? Then this is the session for you! We'll cover content classification, Canadian
content, and many more things that we feel you need to be aware of before hitting the airwaves at CFUZ.
Radio 202: CFUZ Studio Orientation
Mandatory for Programmers, Hosts & DJs
Membership Required
During this session, we'll take you into our CFUZ studio, and show you how all the fancy buttons and
knobs work. We'll also go over procedures and workflows. Taking this session will allow you to use the
studio, and that's important if you want to be on the air!
Radio 203: CFUZ Studio Advanced Topics
Membership Required
We couldn't fit all of our studio goodness in our introductory orientation session, so we have developed
an advanced topics session which goes into further details on some of the more complicated aspects of
operating the CFUZ studio. Pre-fader listening, telephone hybrid operation, recording podcasts and
some others. If you are looking to maximize the features of our studio to the benefit of your show,
then this is a must-take!
Radio 204: Airtime Operator Training
Membership Required
Ever wonder how CFUZ content gets played on the internet airwaves? Or how we plan to have content 24/7
when we may not have enough people to fill the studio 24/7? Airtime is the software we use to 'automate'
our station playout. We're always looking for more help to do this job, because it's a big job! If you
are interested, then this is the seminar for you!
Radio 205: Making Podcasts
Membership Required
Some content can't be made live in the studio, and we understand that. For those of you interested in
producing documentary style shows, or other intensively edited shows, this seminar will go over some
of the podcasting basics to get you on your way.

Description: Campus and community radio policy This document sets out the Commission's revised policy for both campus and community radio. The Commission considers it appropriate to establish a single policy for this sector that makes provision for differences in the two types of stations where appropriate.
Description: Revised content categories and subcategories for radio. This regulatory policy revises the list of content categories and subcategories for radio by adding a new subcategory 36 (Experimental Music), as announced in Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-499 which sets out the new policy for campus and community radio. This regulatory policy will take effect only when the Radio Regulations, 1986 are amended to make reference to it.
