Local Matters is a weekly spoken word program focusing on interviews with interesting community members, information on upcoming events and discussions around our community issues. This collective program combines the efforts of many volunteers who contribute program content and production.

In this episode of Local Matters, hosts Julie Fowler and Paul Crawford sit down with professional multidisciplinary artist, Michael Hepher to talk about his experience as an artist-in-residence at the Similkameen Artist Residency in Keremeos. Living in Fernie, BC, Michael Hepher has built a fascinating artistic career over 20 years. He works in a variety mediums including oil painting as well as letter press and printmaking and established Clawhammer Press in 2011. He is also a musician playing mandolin and guitar with The Doggone Brothers Band who are releasing their first full-length album as a 4-piece, Hard Luck Livin’ in April 2025.
