This week’s episode is bargain bin finds. Ian plays a collection of songs from 80’s albums that he picked up in record store bargain bins, including music by Canadian bands Images In Vogue, Martha and the Muffins, the Spoons, Rational Youth and Bolero Lava.
In this week’s episode Ian thanks old friends and puts together a relaxing playlist of favourites including songs by Paul Simon, Nike Drake, Van Morrison, Kate Bush and Peter Gabriel, as well as songs by Canadians Neil Young, Feist, Serena Ryder, Sarah Harmer, Mike Edel and Andy Shauf.
In this week’s episode Ian explores the poppier side of UK punk and its origins. Music by Stiff Little Fingers, the Vibrators, U.K.Subs, 999 and the Buzzcocks, plus music by Canadian bands Pink Steel, Culture Shock, Tommy and the Commies, the Pointed Sticks, Plan Nine and the Forgotten Rebels.
This week’s show is soul music with music from the Julian Taylor Band, Soul Inscribed, Trouble Funk, Curtis Mayfield, Remy Shand, Tanika Charles and others. Ian also pays tribute to Toots Hibbert the singer and songwriter from the reggae band Toot’s and the Maytals.
This week’s show features several songs from the Replacements boxset, Dead Man’s Pop. As well as tracks by other 80’s alternative bands including Husker Dü, Slow, the Doughboys, FireHose and Camper Van Beethoven.
This week’s show is all vinyl. Ian pulls a batch of records from his collection including obscure music from Heads Hands & Feet, Levon Helm, the Stephen Barry Band, Uncle Wiggly’s Hot Shoes Blues Band, Heavy Metal Kids, Grin and Cold Chisel.
