Larry Saidman's Top 200 Albums of All Time Larry Saidman
An eclectic array of music from the time that the record 'album' was popularized (1940's) until now. This is a totally personal perspective on 200 of the best albums ever recorded... including vinyl LP's, CD's, and possibly a collection or two of 78 rpm albums. Starting at #200 and hoping we'll all live long enough to hear #1. What's Number One you ask? Actually I don't know yet. And I'm (probably) not open to bribes.
Interspersed with the Top 200 list will be occasional programs involving a guest from the community playing and talking about 8 or 9 of their top albums of all time.

Pre 1955 78 rpm's Part 3. Louis Jordan, Robert Johnson, Charles Brown, Lee Wiley, some Western Swing, Blind Alfred Reed, and of course Jimmie Rodgers. Lots more. The first Canadian jazz recording, and two other early Canadian recordings.
Pre 1955 78 rpm's Part 2. The first jazz guitar solo ever. And if psychedelic music was all about drugs, then maybe this 1927 record is psychedelic. And some Canadian red hot boogie hillbilly bop that convinced one blogger it was from the deep south.
Before 1955 there were some albums, but mostly just 'records'. Great records! I'm going to end off my Top 200 series by playing a few of those records, from 1888 (honest!) to 1955. This week and next. Also a bit of a 'history of record'. (rather than a 'record of history').
Internationally known Penticton area jazz keyboardist with Larry Coryell, two versions of a Beatles song, early Bowie, Robbie Robertson, Adolph Hitler singing to Eva Braun, The under-rated Darylectones plus Dorado Schmitt, Nina Simone and Leonard Bernstein reincarnated, and a French Horn playing Latin Jazz. Bon Voyage Miss Tischhauser---and Fifi O'Toole, where are ya?
Appendix to Top 200 that starts with Protection Island's David Essig, throws in a touch of The Cure, two versions of Baltimore Oriole that tracks the evolution of musical taste, the great Louisiana Swamp Rock writer, an American of French descent singing two songs by Canadian songwriters, and a Growling Tiger 'cover'. Plus another from my #1 album of all time.
Welcome to Appendix 2...... after the countdown. This show includes a version of After the Goldrush, plus two jazz trio versions---featuring two different amazing pianists---of Autumn Leaves. A nice springtime touch, don't you think. Lots more, too.
Episode 53: Part of the 'appendix', includes bubbling under the top 200, more top 200 selections, new material, etc. This weeks includes psychedelic folk, vocal jazz, a recently deceased folk icon, a jazz guitar legend, four Canadian singers, and others.
#1 - The greatest album of all time. . Think how many people say 'this is the greatest greater ever'....then the next week say it about another record! Not in this case, because there are 199 great albums not as good as this one!
The second last program features albums I've rated as #2, #3, and a revisit of Album #7. Includes one full side of one, 7 songs from another, and The Medication is Wearing Off.
